580 EX II portrait need advise please.

I've got a chance to shoot with 1D MK III+ 85 1.2L II and EX580 II but i still strugring with how to use the flash properly. I normally shoot landscape and this portrait work are rarely happend so... I'm not really good on using flash at all.
I want to shoot at 1.2 and when using the H sync some photo was too dark(3-5 meter away) and some was too bright on the subject(1 meter). And i have no clue with how to adjust the flash under the bright sunligth.
These 2 shots was taken at around 12.30 PM- 14.30 PM
Anyone give me some advise please.
