I've recently installed Fusion. The main difference between running windows from BootCamp and Fusion (other than speed) is that with Fusion you can suspend the virtual machine so it comes back up in 1-2 seconds, i.e., you aren't shutting down windows. You can't do that with a BootCamp virtual machine because BootCamp doesn't know about the suspension part.

If you don't suspend the virtual machine you can use the same VM for both BootCamp and Fusion.
