Canon 5DII: cf error, cannot format, error 80

Yesterday evening, while I was taking pictures with my 5DII on a 16 GB Lexar Professional CF, the camera, all of a sudden, gave a "cf error, card not formatted" message. After several attempts to format the card with the camera, I formatted it with my PC and the camera still wouldn't read it. I tried another card from a Sony Alpha 200, which didn't work either. After a while, the camera started to show error code 80 and didn't respond to any commands. Did anyone had a similar experience?
