Turning of the pre flash on Alpha 100?

Is there any way to turn of the pre flash, that is sent by the built in flash, in the Sony Alpha 100?
I would like to use my old (20 years) studio flashes that has a built in light sensor, but the pre flash sets them off before the shutter is released in the camera. Resulting in pitch black images. I have tried all the settings I can imagine but have only found two ways to work around this. 1.) Use 2 or 10 sec self timer or 2.) Use and old Minolta film-flash that does not pre flash. Both alternatives feels silly.
What do I do? Is my Alpha 100 to simple for studio work?
