S100FS, brilliant zoom lock

Reading the review of Tamron 18-270 I saw that there's a switch on it to lock the zoom (at 18 mm only).
I wonder why they don't use the solution implemented by FUJI on the S100FS.
I can only suppose that FUJI solution is patented because it is so simple and effective to look brilliant and I don't understand why other manufacturer keep on putting uncomfortable switches on their zooms.
FUJI solution is so brilliant that, I guess, many users didn't notice it.
I didn't encounter any post in this forum about this value but, probably, I simply miss it.
