Why Panasonic Images Disappoint
Dec 23, 2008

Well, let me start by saying I love my FZ-30 - a lot.
I just wish I could get a little more out of this forum.
And it is mostly the images posted here that disappoint.

I'd pretty much given up on learning anything on this forum to do with how to use a Pany cam for extending dynamic range and/or tonal mapping info. since I never really liked the results posted and what I've seen posted on this forum didn't inspire me at all.
Then I saw this on the retouching forum:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1006&thread=30410253&page=1

Now is it just me, or is this forum lacking?

Does anyone have any comparable Pany samples or do I just assume all cameras are going to give similarly spectacular results (Pany included) in the same skilled hands and that the posters on this forum just don't measure up? Surely given some of the great images I've seen posted here there's obviously a lot of skill. So why so few ("good") extended dynamic range images which I always thought were one of the great promises of digital photography.

Check out Jeremy Gray's bird photo, or Serrator's abandoned house, to use just two examples, to see what I mean.
