D3 and Lightroom 2 - exposure decreases after import

Photos I take with my D3 appear properly exposed on the camera display. After I transfer the images to Lightroom, when I first view a photo, the exposure and color looks correct. However, after a second or two, the photo exposure drops to a level that is unacceptable, the color saturation also changes to a level that is unacceptable. When the photo first appears in Lightrroom, it looks as it does on my camera though after a second or two, it is completely wrong. When I move over to the next image, the exact same behavior occurs.
To the best of my knowledge, I have not changed any parameters in Lightroom 2 to tell it to reduce exposure nor color of images imported or to recalculate these. Does anyone know how to correct this behavior in Lightroom?
