Canon Camera / Lens for Bird Photography
Dec 8, 2008

I am looking to buy my first DSLR. I am interested in Bird Photography and find it fascinating.

For camera body, I am looking to buy something good that will last a couple of years.

For lens, I am looking to buy something that I will stay with for a longer time and something I can upgrade to a new camera body with.

At this point, I am "interested", but not sure how far I will be able to take my interest.

Keeping this in mind, are there any recommendations?

My initial thoughts are Canon 450D/XSi with Canon 100-400mm IS or Sigma 150-500 OS.

If anyone has experience with any of the above (or something better), your feedback will be most appreciated.
