Talking Pro Fashion Shooting: D3 vs. D3x
Dec 4, 2008

Ok guys. Lets NOT look at the price tag. Lets talk facts!

I would say I am a high quality fashion shooter who is a crazy perfectionist. I push my D3 to the limit and still I would NOT go for the D3x.

Why?

My main Argument is that up to DinA3 prints (only 0,1% of my clients want bigger) noone will be able to tell the difference between a D3 and D3x. I love to shoot outdoor glamour / fashion, where you can feel the groove. E.G: http://www.4FR.de/diary/ and most of my pictures I do NOT have to crop since I controlling my framing in the preperations.

Futher on the D3 has better quality if you compare the full resolution of the D3 to the crop of the D3x (same pixels). Simply cause the Pixelsize on the D3 wins.

Futher more. Have you ever shot a portrait with a 20+ Megapix cam? I have and I can tell you it is frustrating to retouch. Just take a look at the potrait on the Nikon Homepage you can see the bad makeup especially at the nose of the model. Even with the best Makeup Artists you will get frustrated retouching the shot at full size. (and all that trouble if you won't print them XXL sized anyway?)

My advice for all you guys seeking for the new D3x. Take a look at your lightning system and glas. I think you run far better in most situations with a D3/D700 and a premium glas + good light than getting a D3x. If money doesn't matter, well then this comment is not for you

Just my 2 cent. Go ahead and fire at me. I like it HOT !!!
