3:2 aspect ratio is effective pixel or crop&interpolated? F100fd

does anyone know if 3:2 aspect ratio on fujis 12MP sensor just crops the 4:3 image and interpolates it (to wider resolution than 4:3) or is it like LUMIX LX3 that it really uses a different part of the sensor. see LUMIX review, middle of page http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicdmclx3/
some older posts say for other cameras 3:2 aspect ratio can be saved as "normal" only, not "fine". is it also true for the F100fd?
