f31fd replacement/advice please

Hi, I need advice about digital cameras. So far my f31fd has been the good to me, and it seems to always take clean shots without flash and has good macro. (I like taking pictures of food, which is often indoors.)
Unfortunately the camera was damaged whilst i was moving homes.
The zoom lens was no longer retracting, and had the "Zoom Error" message.

I got a quote to fix, which was ridiculous (21,000yen)... the camera was bought for about 27,000 yen a few years ago. I really like the camera, but with that money I was thinking perhaps I can get a better compact instead.

Does anyone have a suggestion what would be a good replacement?

I saw the comparison here between the f31fd and IXY, since then I've kinda avoided the Canon...

I really appreciate any advice you can give me...

Should I spend the money to fix the f31fd?? its a great camera, but is there anything better in terms of low light shots?
I saw a second hand f30 for about 16,000yen ... should I get that instead?
