Image Stabilizer sound - 24-105mm owners - please help

The EF 24-105mm F/4 L I purchased recently produces a noise(sound) approximately 1 second after the shutter button is pressed halfway. It is similar to the focusing sound. This happens only when the IS is on (irrespective of AF or MF). I guess it's something to do with the IS. But somehow I failed to notice this sound with the EF-S 17-85 IS I owned previously.
Please let me know if this is a problem with the lens or it happens with your lens also.
