I am happy to say that my open box 40D kit seems to perform
flawlessly. All I had to do is set the clock and update the firmware.
I haven't even found any dust on the sensor! My NIB 40D I purchased
in January of last year was riddled with dust out of the box.

One interesting comment was made by the CSR at CC. I asked if this
unit had been abused by customers, and he said that most customers
just bypass the DSLR and go right to the P&S cameras due to the high
price of DSLR cameras.

Overall I am finding myself pretty happy with the OB 40D purchase.
While the 50D may have been better, the savings of $500 was worth it
for me. The 40D make a excellent companion to my D300.

The 40D is an excellent camera and you would really have to make very large prints to see any difference in the output from the 50D and even then it would not be noticeable unless you were looking for it. I've had my 40D for just over a year now and it's served me well. It will stay as my backup.

Enjoy and take some great shots so you can post.
