Dynamic range question
Nov 7, 2008

I read somewhere that the human eye can see 20-odd stops of DR, it seems to me that this is the thing we're waiting for now in terms of camera/printer/screen development. Anyone got any info on the physics of this, such that a layman might understand it a little?

I make paintings (of people) from photographs and am always impressed by the wide range of some HDR shots...more than any megapixel increase or other developement I'd love to see a wider DR from my camera. What're the chances of a firmware upgrade or is it more to do with sensor technology?
Thanks for any input
