Theatre photo - movie still photography

Hi everyone,

I'm currently following a theatre play in Paris and the show is going to be held until end of November. Old theatre, 3 floors, wood everywhere. If you move a single step, it makes a hell of a noise and everyone can hear...

I'm trying to find the best setup to cover the show. I have almost given up using my Canon 1D MII (mirror and shutter too noisy) and went back to the old Canon 10D (mine is 5 years old and still working fine), only 6Mpixels and files are awfully noisy compared to newer camera body. So far, I have managed to make decent images but I'm sure some people here on the forum have good ideas.

Anyone with same experience?
Any advice? Tips?

I was almost thinking of building myself some sort of case for my 1D MII allowing only the lens out and a few buttons...

Anyone with movie still photography experience? that should be pretty much the same.
