Am I the only one? Returned TWO 50Ds due to dead pixels
Oct 18, 2008

I just returned my second 50D to Amazon.com today. Both have dead/hot pixels appearing in photos taken at shutter speeds 1/4 and above.

Am I asking for too much. Does every body actually check for dead/hot pixels during the first few days?

My procedure is to first take several photos at low speeds (like 10 seconds) where hot/dead pixels can be easily located. I then register thier locations and look into normal pictures to see if those dead pixels do appear in normal pictures.

In my case, both cameras had them. I tried the manual dust cleaning procedure mentioned here, but it did not help.

I have a replacement on the way, if this one fails too then 50D is not for me. I 'll hang on to my 5D II pre-order.
