Better Beamer Help
Oct 16, 2008

I recently purchased a better beamer and used it for the first time two days ago. I was out shooting remote control airplanes (sort of like birds in flight i guess) and had mixed results. I am using a Nikon D80, 70-300 VR, and SB-600

My questions are the following:

  • What mode should I shoot in? I am used to shooting in shutter priority for this (so that I can capture the action). One dilemma here is that the highest synch speed on the D80 is 1/200 sec (not using FP which reduces the flash output tremendously).

  • If using TTL metering for the flash, should I stop the flash output a bit? My reasoning for this is that the camera doesn't know that I have a better beamer on my flash. Is this correct?

Any ideas on the general set-up would be great. thanks!
