Shooting the moon
Oct 10, 2008

I've had my D60 for about two weeks... it's my first SLR. I'll be using the camera mostly at baseball games, but the season is over until next March... so anyways I've been trying to take some snaps of the moon, but of all the snaps I've taken only four have "come out" where you can actually tell it the moon and not a ghostly light blob.

The moon looks sharp and clear in the viewfinder... but when I snap it never seems to turn out, and I've tried many of different settings in different modes (Shutter mostly).

Thats the best I've got. They're distorted / blurred... they suck. Like I mentioned, definitely sharp and clear in the viewfinder, so focus isn't the problem. I've used the (LONG!) 10 second timer so my handshake isn't it... with a tripod obviously.

Any suggestions on settings? lens recommendations? can I buy an adaptor to attach the camera body to a telescope?

Thanks
