Nikon 200-400 VR or 300 2.8

My wife just told me she is offering me one of these two lenses for my birthday! I know I'm a lucky guy!

I have to choose the one I want and I am sure I will never get the other one, I am not a pro. Which one would you choose for wildlife, birds, sport etc. I have and love the 70-200 VR, it is my most used lens with my 17-55 2.8. Any advice?
