I would agree with you for the most adjustments in ACR. But, color is where I have most of my problem... so, that would be the only prameter I'd let the plug-in modify for the image. reset, I'll leave it to ACR.

Phototools has a batch tool where I can process a folder (raw included).. so I'd leave all images WB to as shot and let the plugin process the color + ACR other settings.

So, instead of ACR save my files I'll just have phototools do the job...

Well, you can certainly use Photoshop for a lot of image correction
and retouching. That's kinda what it was designed for in the first
place. The image quality aspect of correcting the raw files BEFORE
getting the file open in Photoshop are pretty compelling thou and add
to this the fact that you can adjust multiple images about as easy as
single image and there's an undeniable workflow benefit to doing as
much as possible in Camera Raw so you can leverage the work across
multiple images. Can't do that very easy with Photoshop and
plug-ins...

Get a prime to loose some weight...
(assuming you'll move forward/backword to frame your photo)...
or
Just get a Zoom if you like the fat belly...
