Curiosity got the better part of me, so I went ahead and opened up my Glyph drive.

It was actually a lot easier than I thought: just unscrew the 4 hex screws holding it together, which separated a metal lid from the rest of the enclosure. This feels quality all the way through.

Inside I found a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 (160GB) drive, model ST9160821AS ( http://www.seagate.com/docs/pdf/datasheet/disc/ds_momentus_5400.pdf ) which is a SATA NCQ drive.

My curiosity is satisified now, and I feel that my photos will be stored on a reliable drive, not some cheapo, random brand with questionable reputation.

And since it's so easy to open up I feel confident that I can easily exchange the drive inside with something bigger in a few years time, when I've run out of space.
