40D L-Plate Work for 50D?

I noticed on the Really Right Stuff website, they say the 40D's L-plate works for the 50D as well. I bought the Kirk version of the L-plate b/c I like to use it with my remote shutter release and I want the plate to fit tight to the body.

If I upgrade from a 40D to a 50D, do I need to wait for Kirk to design a new L-plate, or will the one I'm using on my 40D fit? Anyone know?
