Tedious way to find the new 5D Page? Try it out!
Sep 17, 2008

Ok guys. I thought you might have some fun with this. I was just browsing the main Canon camera page and came across an idea.... On the main page there is a list of current camera cameras. If you roll your mouse over each camera, watch the link address in the bottom of the browser window. Each link has the exact website address EXCEPT for the last five digits. For example, the 50D link ends with "modelid-17499". Is it possible to manually change the digits one at a time until you hit upon the page for the 5D's replacement?

I decided to try it out. I manually changed the numbers in the address bar, starting at "modelid=12000" and working my way up. The first successful hit was for the Canon EOS-1D Mark II N ("modelid=12012") which was not listed on the camera page.

Now there are three questions.

1. Could this be a way to find the page for the 5D replacement?
2. Does anyone have the time to try it?
3. Does anyone care?

Have fun!
