R1900 not loading ink

Got a brand new R1900 from B@H but the Cyan ink did not load.
Epson send me a new one with a set of ink and I was allowed to keep the ink from the first one (nice gesture).
To my surprise this printer also did not clear one cartridge this time the magenta.
Before I call Epson again I would like to hear other folks' knowledge about this issue.
Mainly is it the printer problem or a cartridge one.
Thanks for the input.
