I've got the 2550, which is about $400 from New Egg. This is the second Konica Minolta printer I've owned. I've been very satisfied with results.

I did profile the printer to print from InDesign, using Spyder 3Print. Results are a very good match to what is on my Spyder3 Calibrated screen. Of course some images need a slight tweak to better match what you want.

I use the printer to primarily print 5x7 folded note cards of my images. I found a stock that prints very nicely. I have the 80lb paper pre-cut to 5x10" size and scored, so it's an easy task to print cards on demand.

If you want best results, stick with the Konica printing carts. Refilling carts with 3rd party toners, while significanly cheaper, will result in streaky and unsatisfactory results for photographic images.
