D300 or 700 for Astrophotography
Aug 26, 2008

Hi folks, I am a D200 user and have gotten into astrophotography. Drooling over the latest from Nikon I am searching for some advice on an upgrade.

Anyone out there with experience using a D300 or 700 for astro pics, and if so, what is your advice on these cameras? Astro isn't the only avenue for me - I like photography in general but don't have a particular niche. So the next camera for me would need to do everything - but I would like to angle towards beter astro quality pictures if able - every ounce of help in this arena is needed I think...

Thanks,
Marc

My curernt lens line up may need to be adjusted if I go to a camera like the D700 (I currently shoot mainly with the 18-200 VR Nikon, but I have a 100mm 2.8 Tokina (macro), a 50mm 1.8 Nikon (since it's sharp and cheap) plus a 200-500mm Tamron.
