Stilts?

Didn't know where to put this, but since I shoot with a D300...

Anyone ever thought of using these to get a shot when you couldn't otherwise? I'm not talking about anything illegal. Perhaps shooting over a crowd, or my recent experience of shooting an air show over a chain link fence. Too risky? Probably end up dropping my gear lol. Thought of borrowing from a carpenter friend of mine.
