I am one that likes to upgrade about once a year, but I do find that if I properly market my old stuff, I get +90% for lens and 60-80% for cameras. I do not keep the old stuff if it will sell on ebay. I do invest more in quality lens, but do not keep that many.

PS - Has a G7, will be looking for a pocket camera to replace it only because it was dropped and destroyed. Either the new G10 of the Nikon P6000.

What interests me is why people who are happy with a G9 and have a
nice DSLR with L glass for lenses make a decision to change to any
other P&S. The propensity to buy any new, or upgrade of a good P&S,
for any reason is mind-boggling considering the fact that we get fine
pictures with all the other gear in our bags. Just human nature I
guess, or having more money than they know what to do with. I read in
a forum that some had $50,000-$75,000 in lenses and cameras. WOW!
For those of us who have only a P&S, I can understand buying what we
might think a better camera, or one which we think will give better
images and have features not available on the one we own.
