also try shooting something like a neutral colored wall, that is very evenly lit and with the camera perfectly level, and completely perpendicular to it. On my s7000 I use a .38 wide angle and it vignettes because I have to reduce down to it with a step down adaptor tube. I do notice however that light direction plays a significant role in shaping the vignette. I got real fast with the clone tool in CS2 and shot lots of full wide ones (that's 13mm on a 35) and just cloned out the vignette.
