Pocket Wizard + 580EX II

Hi Folks,
I have just ordered a couple of pocket wizards and a 580EX II Speedlight and wish to know what cables I need in order to connect the Pocket Wizard to the 580 EX II flash and whether or not a cable is required to attach the pocket wizard to my camera as the transmitter or whether it'll just work mounted on the hot shoe?
P.S; I have an EOS 40D which has a pc terminal (I posted this in this forum as guessing more of you will be using the pocket wizards then those in the 40D forum).
