S5 Pro - the bottom line?

I'm thinking about this camera; sounds very capable but please don't shoot me down when I ask - is sharpness/detail (which I've not read much on) a major issue or not? I notice Thom Hogan says "Noiseless means detailless. The excellent noise handling comes at the expense of detail, and the camera is already running shy in that category.:" Can the in camera settings be tweaked to manage this?

I take a lot of portraits (family), but also wideangle landscapes. I'm not bothered about fps BTW, and owning a Nikon FE2 with various lenses makes the S5's Nikon lens mount quite attractive. Does the S5 meter through AI-S lenses.
