Re: Loved this lens on my 5D. AF was fast, if not silent, and always accurate.

I bought this lens really inexpensively after I was quite happy with the 28-75 (bought it as 'light/small' alternative to my 24-70L). I really haven't used it on the 5D but just bought a nice used 400D for my 'small cam' (to 'replace' my G9) and am trying to keep the kit very light. I tried this on it and its very nice--and gives me a good FL range with the 50 f/1.4. I considered the 15FE, 28 f/1.8, 50 but the Tammy plus the 50 is the lighter kit and after looking at the real life tests quite closely, decided I probably wouldn't do much better with other zooms except perhaps the 17-55IS (and I'm not going there at more than 2x the price of the body at this point). So-- on a crop body, it looks like a quite nice WA zoom--or at least mine.
