Need new Canon camera for wife...

The wife will be traveling to Italy in October with her church group and I would like to get her a new digital camera for the trip. I'm looking to get one within the next two months, and have between $200 to $300 to spend.

The thing is she is not much into gadgets and options. She would like to have a camera that is very easy to use (i.e, takes good photos just in the Auto mode). It's important that she be able to charge the battery over there and that it takes good photos...both indoors and out. Also, I think weight and portablity are important as well. Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions on the right camera..thanks!
