D3 - Dust
Jul 5, 2008

My partner and I are both very happy D3 shooters. We've been doing a good deal of softball shooting lately, and it has been very dry and dusty here in Santa Barbara. We're both very careful and we always use compressed air to try and blow off any dust before we change lenses.

As luck would have it, after our last long & dusty 3 day softball tournament, we both now have dust on our sensors. Interestingly, we both have dust on the left hand side of the sensor (we shoot almost exclusively vertical, so I would imagine that the dust fell down the sensor when the cameras were vertical?)

We were both shooting our D3's with the 200-400 4.0.

Has anyone else had dust problems with the D3, and especially the D3 + 200-400 combo?

Finally, I'm going to take my D3 to my local camera store to clean the sensor. If this has to be a regular thing, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an sensor cleaning system or product that you use/like.

Thanks!
