Would you buy a Sigma 50-150 f2.8 OS ???
Jul 3, 2008

I almost caved in to buying a Canon 40D mostly because they have the 70-200 f4 IS, and I wanted something similar to my 50-150 but with IS. Not to mention I have friends that shoot Canon and I could partake of their lenses once in awhile.

In talking in another forum about someone debating to go with the 40D or with the D80 or D200 that 70-200 f4 IS came up. I thought it would be pretty sweet to see Sigma make their 50-150mm f2.8 with OS. It's such an easy lens to carry and is very unobtrusive. Has very good build quality and is pretty sharp. It could get better with OS and fill a bit of a void for that range. Canon has the 24-105 and 70-200, but they're both f4 (thinking size wise and every day carrying). Nikon doesn't have a fixed aperture option that comes close.

With a 1.4x TC you'd turn the 50-150 into a 70-210 f/4 at a price that would still be under the cost of the Canon 70-200 f4, and you'd give Nikon owners something they don't have.

Happily I didn't cave in and get the 40D. I decided to purchase a few books and work on improving my skills which will help me take better pics than buying and selling gear.
