OT-Bandwidth Survey
Jun 27, 2008

Go here:

Wait for the closest test site city to light up in gold then click on it to start the test.

When the test finishes, you will get a speed rating like 6000/512, which is your download kbps and upload kbps.

In the subject line tell us your Country/State or Province/City/Connection Type and Speed Result:

Cable 6000/512
DSL 1500/128
Modem 33.6

If you are in a well know city like Chicago, then don't bother with the Country or State.

If you are in the U.K., Aus or Quebec, then that is close enough of a location description.

Just curious. At a glance if most users have bandwidths less than 1500, then that proves the point about those painfully slow posts opening with multiple huge files, just to read the content of the message. Some forums post the message only in the first post, then the high res image in the second post so at least you have a choice to not wait for the image to load before reading the post or they will post a small image like less that 600 pixels wide with a link to a larger image to make the post reasonable to all viewers.
