5DMII & Std Zoom Lens
Jun 26, 2008

I could perhaps be lured to a modern variant of the 5D (call it 5DMII) from the 40D, in search of even better low-light, low-noise, high-ISO performance. But, I'm simply spoiled by the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM lens, which cannot be used with FF bodies. I've grown to love the combination of f/2.8 and IS in the same standard zoom lens. Canon's 24-70 is f/2.8, but not IS. Also, its tested performance is not as good as the 17-55 (or the 24-105 f/4 for that matter). If I had a FF body (or even 1.3x crop body), I certainly would be interested in an updated/improved IS version of the 24-70 f/2.8 lens. Until then, I'm compelled to keep updating the best 1.6x crop body whenever new ones become available (so I can use the only f/2.8, IS, standard zoom lens Canon has).
