Help with macro lens upgrade.

I am considering purchasing the new Canon 100 F2.8 Macro lens.
I currently have the older telescoping 100 F2.8.
What benefits would I see in changing to this lens?
I would apreciate any assistance.
I had also considered the MPE-65, but am told that it can be a handful.
I mainly shoot macro in the studio.
