Image ISO 3200, not bad

I was at an awards event the other night for one of my daughters as a guest and took some shots of the band from the table I was seated at. Used the D300 with 24-70 at f/2.8, 1/80th second shutter and ISO 3200, shot jpeg fine, large. Yes, there is image degradation, but I would say it would be close to ISO 800 on my old D2x, that is a full 2 stops better performance from the same sized sensor (physical size and close enough to the same pixel count that is) and the colour is just as I remebered it. I am liking the D300 more every time I use it, especially with the MB-D10 grip. The balance this thing gives the camera and better feel in my hand is amazing. I have not experienced the extra sensative shutter release that others mentioned, maybe I was lucky?
