D60 EXIF ColorSpace tag = 1 (sRGB)...why?
Jun 6, 2002

It appears the D60 sets the EXIF ColorSpace tag to "1". According to the EXIF 2.1 spec (I know, the D60 uses 2.2 but I doubt this part has changed), ColorSpace = 1 means sRGB. If the colorspace is undefined, the camera maker should set ColorSpace = FFFF.H

Shouldn't Canon have used FFFF.H? Problem is, Photoshop 7 reads this tag and, in the absence of a real embedded profile, always assumes D60 files are in the sRGB space (which they aren't correct?). It's a little annoying. Almost as annoying that PS7 does not recognize the "Lens" EXIF tag. Adobe says it's a non standard field so they won't honor it....In fact, that data gets wiped out when you Save.

I read that the D1X also sets ColorSpace = 1 even though the photographer may have used the Adobe RGB 1998 mode...hmmmm
