40D Spot Metering (img)

I'm really pleased with how well my 40D spot meter works. Yesterday I was making some snapshots of my Bengal cat Anika and she was sitting in an area by the door that was awash right behind her with a full sunlit area. If I had been shooting with average metering, I would have gotten a nice exposure on the sunlit area and a grossly underexposed Anika. When I saw where she was sitting and the problem area behind her, I set my 40D to Spot Metering and metered right in the center of her coat. The result was a perfectly exposed Anika and a very overexposed upper background, exactly what I wanted.
What do you think? I love this camera.
