A Telescope Stretches From Brooklyn to London

This is a Telectroscope, which will allow New Yorkers and Londoners to wave to one another via fiber optic or satellite. It's a British artist's sculpture pllaced just South of the Brooklyn Bridge. A New Yorker can stand in Brooklyn, wave to someone in London and see the Brit waving back.

An identical one is set up across the pond on at London's South Bank by the Tower Bridge. It's a clever idea entrenched at the Fulton Ferry Landing in Dumbo, Brooklyn until June 15.
