tips for school auditorium shots
May 21, 2008

I have the 30D with the Tamron 28-75 or Canon 85 1.8 or Canon 28-125 IS.

I will be taking photos handheld at a distance of 30-45 feet of my child receiving an award on the stage of the school auditorium with just regular ceiling lighting.

What should be my approach to photographing the presentation with one of the above lenses in order to get the best IQ and having enough DOF to include my child and the presenter in sharp focus?

I assume the use of flash will be discouraged by the school administrator in charge.

Should I jack up ISO? Should I shoot in Av or Tv mode?
