Suggestion on the purchase of a Sigma SD-14.
May 8, 2008

Hello all.

I beg you pardon for the very low techinicality of this post, I would like to know your opinion on purchasing a Sigma SD-14 for the use I'm referring below.

Here in Europe there are some bundles of the Sigma SD-14 + lenses at very low prices, compared to the launch price of the SD-14 itself.
I'm looking a bundle of SD-14 + 18-200 OS that is sold for about 650€.

I actually have a Nikon D80, this will be my other SLR (I'm not substituting the Nikon), and it will be used mainly for landscapes, portrait and macro work. The idea of a Foveon based camera to complement my actual photography kit was originated by this article:

http://www.dcviews.com/reviews/Sigma-SD14-Fuji-S5/Sigma-SD14-Fuji-S5-review.htm

The sample photos obtained from the Sigma ( http://www.dcviews.com/reviews/Sigma-SD14-Fuji-S5/@Sigma-SD14-Fuji-S5-samples.htm ) really impressed me for their quite natural colors. I also liked the real resolution of the 4.7 Megapixel samples in the shadow areas.

Thanks in advance for your answers (and patience...).

PaoloB

P.S.: Obviously I know that I will need also a 70 macro and a 10-20 for some (serious?) macro and landscape work.
