TZ5 - Choppy/Jerky 16:9 Video
May 5, 2008

I just bought the TZ5, and am pretty happy with it so far, but one thing is really bugging me. When I watch videos that I took at 16:9 (both H and L setting) on my PC, I notice choppy/jerkyness when panning. It doesn't really show up if I keep the camera pointed at an object, but once I start panning to the side, I can detect the problem. This does not occur in 4:3 video mode, nor does it occur on my Fuji F31 or Canon S3 in 4:3 mode (640X480).

I'm wondering if perhaps my PC can't keep up with the higher quality video (higher bitrate) that the 16:9 mode gives (I've transfered the videos to my PC, so my card reader is not the bottleneck). Or perhaps the problem is due to my slower SD card, which is just a regular 2GB Kingston (could it have slowed down the frame rate?)

Anyone else notice this problem?
