What is best ~ FZ 18 vs FZ 50

Hi, 18X Optical sounds good (FZ 18) However, there must be a reason they are around $350, while the FZ 50 (Silver) goes from $425 t0 over $500 at ligit gealers such as Adorama, & BH. Is the FZ 50 that much better?
