Help - sigma 18-50mm yellow cast callibration
Apr 20, 2008

I bought the Sigma 18-50m and it is a great lens - sharp, fast, versatile etc. BUT, that slight yellow cast is a real downer, enough to make me want to switch - e.g to 17-70. Even white balance tweaks don't correct it.

I just did some shots at a wedding and some of the 18-50 shots needed quite a bit of work to get them back to neutral' or at least 'warm' instead of 'grey/yellow'.

I did find some 'calibrate' setting in Adobe Camera Raw that helped, but then Googling brought me to sites where people have used Gretag Macbeth color charts to do a similar thing to calibrate particular cameras - but I'm thinking there is no reason that wouldn't work with a particular lens, right?

So, finally, the question is, if I get a color chart (anyone able to lend me one for a day in London?) and calibrate in ACR, that will solve the cast for good, right?

Help appreciated!
