A D3 high iso samples gallery by a Canonian ;)
Apr 19, 2008

Hi everyone... I had a go with D3 a month ago, shot in NEF, then played around with it in Lightroom. As much as i love Lightroom i know that it's not perfect and that the results would be better if i used NX, but i don't have it.

Anyway - http://www.adamkozlowski.net/frameD3/ - here are some samples. ISO ranges from 6400 to 25600 mostly, plus some B&W shots were actually shot at 25600 and pushed, sometimes over +1 stop up till an equivalent of over ISO 50000. I feel that the DPR review of D3 is right - up till 12800 it is absolutely and perfectly usable. 25600 is extreme. But i just love the way D3 pics look at 6400. I wouldn't hestitate to print them A3-size. Oh, and i'm sorry it's in Polish

As a Canonian on a budget (1Ds+1D and no L-lenses yet) i know i can't afford it, but i also know that it's an amazing camera and with the new lenses, the awesome 24-70 and 14-24, not to mention the luckily black 70-200, the D3 is a true killer of the 1D3, and i sincerely hope that the D3x will be just as good as the D3, so it will give Canon a true run for its money and a wake up call to produce new versions of those old lenses which are way behind the new Nikkors (eg 24-70, 70-200).
