Acronis-What's this Secure Zone stuff?

In the past I have used Norton ghost but decided to give this software after searching on the web and recommendations!
Here's my problem, WTF is the "Secure Zone?" I have two 150G drives set up as Raid O with about 100 gigs used! When I did as instructed and set up a "Secure Zone" so that I could boot my computer from the Acronis CD it set aside 100G of disk space that is no longer usualbe??
If this is what I have to put up with, I need to find different sofware?? In other words, Acronis rendered 100G of my remaing 200 unusualbe!!
I'm not real excited by this!
