How do you handle over exposed "reds"

I would imagine someone has asked this already but i didn't find anything using "search" so...

When I take photos of a red objects (flowers) the red is always blown/clipped loosing detail. If I adjust the exposure then the picture looks under exposed.

What's the best way to deal with this?
